What's New on Rapid Savings: Deal Saving, Follow Users, Badges and More
Rapid Savings just got a big update. Here's everything new, from saving deals to user achievements, and why it makes finding deals a lot easier.
I've been heads-down building for a while now, and I'm genuinely chuffed to finally talk about what's been added to Rapid Savings. Some of these features were on the wishlist from day one. Others came straight from feedback in the community. Either way, the platform is a proper step up from where it was at launch in June, and I think you're going to get a lot more out of it.
Here's everything that's new.
Save Deals for Later
This one was the most requested feature, and honestly, fair enough. Sometimes you spot a deal and you're not quite ready to pull the trigger. Maybe you want to check if you've got budget left, or you just want to come back later when you've had a think.
You can now save any deal directly from the feed with one tap. Your saved deals sit in your profile, ready whenever you are. No more screenshotting things and forgetting what they were for.
A For You Page That Actually Gets You
The deals feed is great if you want to browse everything, but now there's a personalised For You page as well. It learns from the categories you engage with, the retailers you follow, and the deals you save, and surfaces stuff that's actually relevant to you.
It's not magic, it'll take a bit of time to figure out your taste, but even early on it does a decent job of cutting out the noise.
Follow Other Users
Rapid Savings has always been a community, but now it actually feels like one. You can follow other deal hunters whose finds you rate, and their posts will show up more prominently in your feed.
If you've been around for a while you'll know there are some seriously sharp deal hunters posting regularly. This is a good way to make sure you don't miss them.
Comment Voting
Comments have been there from the start, but now you can vote them up or down. This means the most useful replies, whether that's someone confirming a deal stacks with a cashback site, or flagging that stock's running low, float to the top automatically.
It sounds like a small thing but it genuinely makes the comments section more useful, especially on deals that pick up a lot of discussion.
Retailer Pages
This is one I'm particularly pleased with. Every major retailer now has its own dedicated page on Rapid Savings, so if you only want to see deals from a specific shop you can go straight there rather than filtering through the main feed.
You can also follow retailers directly, which means if you're particularly loyal to certain shops (or you're waiting for a specific sale) you'll get those deals surfaced to you automatically. Browse what's live over on the retailers section to see how it works.
User Achievements and Badges
Okay, I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about this one at first. Badges and achievements can feel a bit gimmicky. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Deal hunting is a skill. Consistently finding good deals, sharing them early, getting upvotes from the community, that deserves some recognition.
Badges show up on your profile and give you a bit of credibility in the community. If someone's got a badge for posting 50 verified deals, you know their finds are probably worth paying attention to. Check your own progress any time in your settings.
Sign In With Google
Not the flashiest addition, but it matters. You can now create an account and sign in using Google, which means one less password to remember and a much quicker setup if you're new. It took me longer to add than I'd like to admit, but it's there now and it works exactly as you'd expect.
That's the lot for this update. There's more in the pipeline, but I wanted to get these features out and properly working before saying anything about what's next. If you've got feedback or something you think is missing, drop it in the comments or find me in the community. That's literally how half of these features ended up on the list in the first place.
If you haven't had a proper look around lately, now's a good time. Head to the deals feed and see how it all hangs together.
